Chef Shoop continues his pursuit to educate culinary professionals at the Cancer Treatment Center of America®. With Chef Shoop at the helm, an official culinary training program at the Philadelphia location will launch on January 2, 2010. Culinary techniques, nutrition, management, patient care and quality service are the core components of the program. Demonstrations and lectures will be held weekly with implementation threaded through the execution of daily meal service. La Toque Library, a culinary resource center, will also assist and support the staff with textbooks and visual recordings. A tool for research, the library will enable the staff to explore new objectives that complement the core culinary curriculum. Chef Shoop believes that to be a great chef one must strive to be a great person, which entails going the extra mile. A great chef learns all that others have discovered in the profession, profits from their experience and teaches it to others. A group of six Cancer Treatment Center of America® culinary staff members is also being prepared by Chef Shoop for the ProChef certification at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
Culinary Refinement is strongly committed to the education of culinary professionals. In 2000 Chef Jack organized La Toque, a fundraiser to offer culinary school scholarships to exceptional culinary students. The dinner at La Toque was prepared with the pristine craftsmanship of fifty renowned international chefs.
